Oy vey, just went through this myself. Royal PITA.
Both top bolts on the alt should be loosened, then loosen the smaller
inner bolt on the pinion gear(shouldn't need to get loosened much,
and the alt should drop somewhat when you loosen the bolt.) It would
be a wise idea to hold the pinion gear in place with a wrench, it's
not very strong metal.
Pull that belt off(very easy) and move to the A/C compressor...this
one is much, tougher.
You'll notice a funny crossarm brace setup between the A/C compressor
and alternator; loosen all the pivots involved there. Loosen both
pivot bolts up top just like on the alternator. Remove the bolt at
the bottom of the compressor that slides in a slot.
Also remove the pinion bolt -completely-. Word to the wise, make
sure the gear part pops off the rack as you undo the smaller bolt,
otherwise it tends to jam on rust etc on the smaller bolt and tear
itself to pieces once it reaches the end of its travel; if the
compressor moves to one end of its travel as you're undoing the
smaller bolt and it gets very tough to work the bolt loose, STOP,
something's not right.)
I -think- that's it. I can't remember, but I -think- the pinion bolt
is the one that(after you've removed the back slider) keeps the
compressor from pivoting against the engine just a little bit
more...but keep an eye out for a bolt on the front that might also
need to get removed.
Once that's all done, the belt will still be very tough to get off+on.
Oh, and getting the PS pump position "lock" bolt loose will require a
whole mess of extensions snuck through all the radiator+hydraulic
hoses. You need to have extensions out to about the radiator fan
shroud, if I remember correctly. Once it is loose, just loosen the
two pivots for the PS pump, and start undoing the top adjuster bolt.
The PS pump might need a little smack to break free.
