taka, maybe you are referring to 321 stainless, which is only necessary for
turbo headers and ultra high output race applications. Most Downpipes and
exh. systems are fine with 304 stainless. 321 has a bit of titanium in it
giving it the high heat durability and aircraft specification.
This is all at the thinner 16 and 18 gauge sizes. I used 304 stainless for
my header, but the wall thickness is 1/8", and is more than strong enough.
