near mishap w/ jacks

hi everyone,

I just thought I'd relate a near mishap working under
my car last weekend. I had the rear of the car jacked
up to replace the rear diff oil on my Audi 90q.
Unfortunately, and very stupid of me I did not chock
both of the front wheels. I was lazy and just did one
wheel....

Once I was under the car I was really pushing on the
diff refil plug. Apparently I pushed hard enough
forward that the car moved and the jacks (two) slide
from the apex of the rear subframe where they were
originally placed back two inches until they came to
rest next to the rear part of the control arm. It all
happened in an instant while I was under the car. I
probably would not have been killed if the car had
completely slide off the jacks because the rear tires
were still on but I would have been injured for sure.

The engine was out so the anti-roll force that can be
counted on by putting the trans gear was not there. I
had heard of cars rolling off jacks before. Now I've
seen it happen....

Always chock both wheels, either front or rear and be
safe.
[I'm almost too embarrassed to write about this]
