No it's not necessary - the pressure bleeder will force the air out.  I
think the procedure is to do this first, before the brake sequence.  If I
recall it goes: clutch, master cyl. fittings(if replaced), right rear, left
rear, right front, left front.  Consult the manual, of course.

Just did the '87 pearl avant with ATE Super Blue and a new MC.  The old
fluid and master cyl. were causing the brakes to hang when the car got hot.
 What a difference!
