Well, after putting off real lighting for so long (hey, it doesn't really add
any power, so...) I finally took the plunge.
Man, what a difference, if you've been considering the upgrade, and do any
driving at night (ya, I know), then it is money well spent. The accuracy of
the pattern is amazing, a real sharp cutoff allows aiming the lights as high
as possible. I'm running 55/60 H4 and 100w H1, the lows are great, the highs
are just plain dangerous, I hit the high beams on the freeway the other night
and half the cars in the traffic in front of me hit their brakes. Thanks to
Alex (europrice) for sourcing the parts.
I also considered purchasing a Blau harness, but after speaking with their
lovely salesman, I decided to build my own ;) For about $20 in parts, I
built a very nice harness with 3 relays, one each for the High, low, and
fogs.
For turn signals, I found some real nice 16w city light bulbs at the local
flaps, they seem to be plenty bright, and no resistor needed, only thing is
they are white. They replaced the standard 5w city light bulb perfectly, and
result in a nice corner marker turnsignal. I found some 7W orange bulbs, but
the didn't have the proper resistance, and were not very bright.
I also upgraded to a fiberglass B4 hood recently (after a mishap that ruined
my hood). Frankly, it was a lot more work than it was worth, in hind sight I
would have used a factory steel hood, I don't think the 15-20lbs I saved in
weight was worth the hassle of fitting it. It is the hood from
sierramotorsports, and its a race piece through and through, a street car
should have a proper steel hood IME.
I'll also post more info soon about about how the header and new turbo are
testing out (very good btw =)
Anyway, check the url below to see pics, etc.
