Multi-speed radiator fan?

Somebody told me that the radiator fan on the CGT/4k is a multi-speed unit. It uses different speeds for different conditions and should be in "high" when the AC is on. Is that right? Mine seems to be only one speed and it's pretty low. If it IS a multi-speed fan, where/what should I check to get mine back they way it is supposed to be? This could explain why my AC condenser isn't getting enough air flow to properly cool (my mechanic wants to add a pusher fan, but if it is a multi-speed fan I'll have him check that first). HELP!
