She's at it again. I recently had the dead starter
replaced. While it was in for service, I had them check
the clunk coming from the front end. New tie rods and
a connecting rod. US$839, thank you very much.
"Oh, there seems to be some weeping from the oil
cooler lines."
Leaving the shop, the car feels like new. The slop in
the front end is gone. It feels nice and tight. I'm happy
with my car again.
A few days later, I'm a half mile from home and the
oil pressure warning light comes on. I look at the oil
pressure gauge -- 0 (zero). Well, I think, maybe it's a
bad sensor. I roll down the window and don't hear
any loud noises, so I continue home.
The tell-tale drops of oil leading to where I parked the
car, and the puddle under the front end tell me the
sensors are OK.
Damn, Bad Puppy's marking her territory again.
The previous time the oil cooler lines went, they were
replaced with a used cooler and lines, since the effort
to loosen the connections seems to destroy things.
This time, I'm going to see about having a local
hydraulics shop make up new lines.
God, I love being an Audi owner. If I didn't have a
backup ride, I'd have to give it up.
