a friend of mine needs help w/ his '91 100..any help would be appreciated,
i'll fwd the responses to him..

I have a 91 Audi 100 here in the shop, with the non-turbo 5 cylinder. It has
the original thermostat in it (with over 193k on the car!), which I am
replacing. My question is, on which side of the thermostat does the rubber
O-ring go, the block side or the flange side? The original ring was too
deteriorated for me to tell.

Second, the drivers' side window doesn't go up or down, but the motor does
run when the switch is pressed. I remember that there are a couple plastic
clips or pins in there that tend to snap, but I don't remember exactly which
they are. Do you know, by any chance?

Third and last, the car has the factory alarm, which is screwing up big time.
When the battery is connected, the car will start and run, but if you shut it
off then try to restart it the alarm goes off. Is this an easy fix, or do I
have to (and can I) bypass the sucker? It's really annoying to have to
disconnect the battery every time I shut the car off.
