It isn't that hard really. You do need the triple-square tool to remove
tranny side flange. Have someone step on the break while you break them all
loose. It helps for access to rotate to each bolt. Then the same process to
loosen the axle nut at the wheel. If memory serves, you can wiggle it out
without separating the control arm to strut joint if you turn the steering
wheel to lock (I think to opposite side of car).

When I did mine I got it from NAPA, whom I have always had good luck with,
and swapped it at the store. The new unit installed fine, but when driven
pulled apart as it was (only slightly) too short. By the time I contacted the
store, my core was long gone. It took 3 attempts to get the right length
shaft. NAPA did stand tall and helped through the whole ordeal. If it had not
been for that little issue, it would have been a not too difficult 1-2 hour
job. I think its much easier than messing with the boots and circlips and
grease etc., although if you do that you will be sure to have the right
length part.
