Hi Jim,
Yeah, that would, or will, suck. I did have them backwards at first. I guess the rack doesn't go bad
immediately then?
Perhaps a saving grace is that the system was nowhere near bled when it was hooked up that way. So,
maybe there was no pressure, and that's why it hasn't failed yet?
I fear I made a bigger goof up. This one kinda sucks.
I suppose if I were to put the axles on the wrong sides (is there a theme here?), then it might cause my
car to act like it had frozen struts, in that it would inhibit downward travel as the longer of the two shafts
tried to pole vault the tranny. Wow. I haven't confirmed it, but I'm thinking it is possible that I did that.
Well, I'm looking at a set of 5kt fwd axles. I don't see a part number (TPC lists separate ones for left and
right). They are maybe two inches or so apart. I think I would have noticed difficulty during reassembly.
I just can't explain the suspension binding I'm experiencing. I can jack up the car, and the wheel moves
down from the at rest position. Then when I set it back down and push down on it, it almost seems
normal. I can't explain it, but it seems to quickly tighten up, as if the strut was allowing movement, but
suddenly gets hard.
I don't hear any strange noises coming from the front while driving or anything. I would think two inches
extra on one axle would be making some noise or something.
Where are the part numbers on the axles? Yeah, I'll have to measure them.
If I can fix the 5kcstq tonite, then it goes to Laughlin with me tomorrow. Otherwise, it'll be the Saturn. Not
as good.
Thanks,
Ken
