hi guys, i seem to have mae the 90q a bit more lively, firstly i fitted a
k+n ( i know everyones feelings on these....) and junked the hot air flap
thingy, that thing needs so much pressure to open, so now i just have a hole
in the side of the airbox, shortly i will make a cold air duct.
I also tackled the timing (this is kv bottom, ng top and ecu etc) bentley
says put the fuse in the fuel pump relay for at least 4 seconds, what does
this do???? i thought that was just for pulling fault codes? also bentley
shows a tdc mark, but no timing mark, what i found was that on the strobe
the tdc mark (on the back side of the flywheel) strobed up, so i dialled in
15 degrees advance, andb low and behold a timing mark appeared (on the
engine side of the flywheel), so this suggested the engine timing was set on
tdc. So whilst the light was set on 15 i adjusted the timing until the tdc
mark came back, with hindsight i should have set the light to 0 and checked
for the timing mark. Anyhow the engine is "looser" now and more enjoyable
to drive, have i done this correctly? also it smells less rich, although i
havent connected the co meter and checked the lambda yet, could what i have
done effected this? the other thing is the fuse was fitted permanantly in
the fp relay, ive taken it out now, what effect would this have had?
thanks.
