5k headliner removal: sunroof too?

The answer came back that yes, you must remove the sunroof to remove the
headliner.
My sunroof being stuck and the light already waning, my brother and I
decided to go a different approach. We sewed the headliner back on to
the backing, at the highest point right above the rear passengers'
heads.
We pulled the rear of the molded headliner down a little, separated the
fabric from the backing, drilled pairs of holes in the backing in six
places from the left to the right, and stitched it together with a
U-shaped upholstery needle.
Then we realized we hadn't pulled it tight enough to capture the back
end, so we redid it. I believe the back edge was originally folded over
the edge of the molded backing and glued in place. Instead, we capture
the material with the rubber molding trim that presses on from the back.
All in all, I'd say it's a pretty clean solution--a lot better than the
sheet-metal screws I was tempted to run in there! Glad I didn't do
that--if it hadn't been tight enough the first time, it would have been
a real eyesore. But, I agree with others that contend that no one ever
looks back there anyway.
