Mark-
In my experience, the 200q20v is a better car than the 10v overall-
the engine management system is more sophisticated, will allow you
to limp home in some cases where the 10v CIS system would leave you
stranded.

Electrically, I think the post-facelift 200s are significantly better-
my car has a problem w/ the auto-check, which I think is due to some
solder joints breaking in the instrument cluster, but other than that,
the car has been very solid electrically.

The hydraulics, oil cooler, climate control, are all the same really
since the switch from a Delco A/C compressor to Nippondenso. One thing
is that the racks on the '91 seem to be better- less leak-prone perhaps,
as it may have had the improved rack installed from the factory?

Now that I've said this, my poor car is going to crap all over me. Time
to fill it up w/ some 93 octane, wash it and take it for a drive.

My take on the whole thing is that these cars are simply getting old- if
you can't/don't want to keep up on the maintenance, you're a lot better
off
driving a late-model Honda/Toyota/whatever, although those cars will be
a
lot less fun to drive and won't have the solidity or crashworthiness.

Late model VWs aren't bad.
