86 5K Leaky Water Pump

Now that my diversion to the fuel pump is over, I am getting back to my
"original" project with this car, which was to fix a slow coolant leak.
The leak has gotten bigger and now wets the front of the engine from the
crank area on down along the oil pan with coolant. Makes a small wet
spot on the ground too over a couple of days. I've been assuming that
it is the water pump, but seems like it is impossible to say for sure
until you have the timing belt and covers off. So I guess I have two
questions for those that might have BTDT, before I dig into this:

1. Before ripping off the tbelt and water pump, are there any other
less obvious places that might leak coolant in a way that drips down the
front right by the water pump area? Hopefully ones that are easier to
check/replace....

2. I had the Tbelt, seals, wp, idler done 24K miles ago, and the tbelt
looks to be in good shape. If the leak does turn out to be the WP,
would it make sense to just do the WP? In looking at the bentley (they
show it for the diesel engine but it looks to be the same for the gasser
too), it seems that one could just replace the wp, by leaving the
harmonic balancer and tbelt in place; just removing the cam pulley and
tbelt covers. Seems that this would be a much easier job, not requiring
the crank locking tool and removal of the intercooler and bumper. Am I
being foolish to try and save time with another 25K on this belt and
idler?

TIA

Steve
