FW: Powder coating alloy wheels (pt. 2)

Hi Thor,

The 7x15s were dealer-installed options in the '80s, when lots of Audis
here in Europe were sold with steel wheels from the factory. A popular
trick to avoid the 40% new-car tax levied on every option here in Holland
was having the dealer install alloy wheels and trading in your unused steel
wheels.

Most people went for 14", which makes the 15" a rare wheel. They pop up
for sale sometimes, but not a lot and most are badly corroded like mine-
most were finished with an anthracite centre and polished outer rims, which
are very susceptible to damage.

Regards, Tom
