Hello Adam........When my clutch failed on my 87 5ktq in 1997, at 117k
miles, I was stranded and the car required flatbedding to a garage. The
failure mode involved the mechanism that operates the clutch. A part called
"the fork" broke and required replacement. I also replaced the clutch and
throw-out bearing and clutch slave cylinder at the time. Cost was $1,000 US
dollars. Took a few days to get the part, and some time to get it in
place. Figure on not having transportation for up to a week, worst case.
The car now has 237k miles on it.
