Hi group:

I recently acquired a 98.5 a4 avant, and the coolant temperature gauge is i=
noperative.  After searching the archives, it would seem the most likely ca=
use is a faulty coolant temperature sensor, however I can't find out where =
that sensor is.  Anyone able to clue me in so I can try jiggling/cleaning i=
t before I go and buy/find a replacement?  I do know about using the climat=
e control system as a back-up for diagnostic purposes, but the car is runni=
ng fine and oil temperature is in the expected range so I assume it is just=
 a sensor issue.
