16ga exhaust vs. 18ga?

Hey, for exhaust designing's sake, I was just looking at the comparison of the old and new ones.

Do you think you would have had more room to do that big "S" curve, if you had flipped the single muffler the other way, so that the inlet was towards the rear, and the outlet was towards the front?  The outlet tailpipe would have to be a bit longer, but you would have more room to negotiate that bend to the inlet.

Or, is that stuff in the way that prevents this orientation?
