Trunk Lid Won't Open - '86 4kQ

I got a call from the BiL ... he says the trunk lid is latched and no matter
waht he does with the key the latch will not release.  The pneumatic
lock/unlock mechanism has not worked for some time.  I've gotten a lot of
experience on the T44 trunk lids ... nothing on the 4k.  My only suggestions
to him were to pull the back seat to see if he could access the trunk ...
and to try applying pressure and vacuum to the line to the trunk lock motor
(I've had situations where the motor is in a position which disables the
latch on the T44).  Anyone have any other suggestions or BTDT?
