86 - 88 MC1 Turbo head and IM compatible to 90 MC-2 head/IM?

Hi Audifans,
Is a 86-88 MC1 turbo head and intake manifold compatible to a 1990 MC2??
Reason I ask is I would like to start the port and polish job BEFORE I yank
the car apart, and I have access to a multitude of 86-88 turbo parts.  It
would be nice to have the head, IM, and new 2-piece EM ready to go instead
of waiting, or even worse, if my head was ultimately not rebuildable, having
to find a new head.  I'm simply trying to minimize the downtime...
