I recently replaced the OS in the Gray 87. It made an immediate and
perceptible difference in the idle, slightly lowering the boost at cruise,
and generally improved drivability, while improving mileage by about 15%. I
bought a "generic" 3 wire Bosch unit from TPC. Installation was a piece of
cake after I bought a OS socket at my local FLAPS. After soldering and
shrink-wrapping the wires, the installation looks quite professional. The OS
had been in service for at least 40 K miles and probably more, but with such
a modest price for the generic unit, it's a very rewarding, and
oft-neglected maintenance item.
