The shutoff and control valve is on the heater hose line going from the hea=
ter line (hard pipe along the driver's side of the block)or the block to th=
e firewall. It's a 10 cm black half moon shaped plastic valve with a 5 cm m=
etal tab connected to a bowden cable.
Two things could be wrong. The clip that holds the Bowden cable housing may=
have slipped, therefore not allowing the Bowden cable to fully close. You =
may be able to relocate the cable (after undoing the clip) and re-clip it a=
nd all will be fine (yeah, right!).
Or, the location due to sagging (mounts, hoses, etc) of the valve may be to=
o far for the cable to close. My solution was to weld on another tab from a=
junker into a position on the existing tab that would GUARANTEE that I cou=
ld close it in the summer. I then switched the cable from tab to tab depend=
ent upon the seasons.
