In the late '80s I think '86 or '87 I saw the pikes peak rabbit/golf at
Heuberger VW in Colorado Springs. This was the first year they raced it on
the Peak and according to the engineer I talked with they were going to add
turbos for the next season. He said it just ran out of oomph at the top.

Just sorry I wasn't at the Peak to see the S1 that year.

it was in "european car" magazine, although it could have been back in the
days it was called "vw&porsche"...
