I had the same symptom on my 4KSQ lat year. Came on suddenly, and I knew the
brake pads were only 15K old. what had happened was a large chunk of the
rotor friction surface had rusted away and flaked off. If it was plywood,
I'd say it delaminated. These were the original 150K miles rotors, so it was
no surprise. New ATE rotors, Pagid pads, calipers, wheel bearing, struts, H&
R springs, Delrin bushings, adjustable prop valve, tierod ends, ball joints,
URQ strutmounts... had the brakes working as new again.
"Yes, honey, all those parts needed upgraded... I mean replaced, to get the
brakes working good again. You want the car to be safe, don't you?"
