Mine was like that when I replaced it at ~120K miles. The motor had stopped
working. However, in the same box is the heater core which probably has a
higher replacement rate than the blower motor and that might have been
replaced without doing both at the same time.
I hate to admit it, but I actually had some fun doing mine. I did both the
heater core and blower motor. The big gasket wasn't as stuck as others,
didn't have to take the hood off, just pull really hard. I probably took too
much of the interior out, but in the end I learned a lot about the system. I
found an extra connector that had dropped into the body cavity during
assembly of the car. Took care of that pesky rattle.... (I'm the original
owner).
