If the slack you describe is with the wheel in the air, then I think that is
quite normal, if you have that much movement with the wheel on the ground,
then that is a problem. The key is, with the wheel in the air, grab it from
top to bottom, there should be no movement, clunking or play there (other
than the strut compressing, etc).
