Hi James,

Considering the history of the word 'torque' and the audifans
list, I fear you are opening a can of worms here !!!!

I will give you my opinions.

Which torque wrench you purchase will really depend on your
intended use. For example, if your primary use is to properly
torque wheel bolts / lug nuts, I would buy the cheapest
'click type' 1/2" drive torque wrench I could find (the
$19.99 Harbor Freight model, with carrying case). Believe
it or not, but torque on wheel bolts is not that critical
that a few lbs difference will have an effect on the car.

However, if you need to torque small bolts, say for a water
pump, or axle, or timing belt, then I would suggest a 3/8" drive
wrench, one with a finer scale, and higher quality.

The less torque you need to apply, the more accurate your torque
wrench needs to be.

Good luck,
Barry

I find that I'm in the market for a torque wrench. Eyeing the wrenches
available on harbor freight, there seems to be a rather large variation in
price. Does anyone have a suggestion on which one I should get? (for use
