Hey Guys,

I am reposting this since I got no bites last time around :{
With some added experience driving this great car, I will try to report what
I think I have figured out.
The A/C really drags the engine, although it develops good temperature even
on a hot southern Florida day. The majority of my cold start complaints are
eliminated with the A/C switched off. Can I loosen the compressor by adding
oil?
Still runs a little rough, sometimes, at startup. This morning's cold
temperature (60s) produced a nice strong start. Seems like CSV is working.
Does this car have TTS or is CSV computer controlled. (Bosch FI book says
both are possible - can someone help?) If TTS, where is it?
PS pump really noisy and feels restrictive at idle. Bad fluid, bad seals, any
guesses?

Ignition switch sticks & doesn't spring back after starting. Any BTDT.

Thanks as always,

Jeff

Anyone got a Bentley for sale? How about an owner's manual?

Hey Guys,

Dropped off the list for a while, though the daily driver did remain in the
Audi family. My 99.5 A4 slushbox is not exactly list material.

The good news is that a couple of weeks ago I picked up a pretty cherry,
white, 91 80,FWD 150K miles (a baby). Original paint, (one door clearly
replaced from a white donor) no rust, clean interior, no electrical problems,
just one bad window switch, good door handles, all systems working (power
locks, cruise, cold A/C, manual sunroof). Dry trunk, noisy power steering
pump (at low revs), A/C Compressor puts noticeable drag on the engine, engine
runs rough on startup (in Florida these days so there aint no true cold
starts).(I wonder if noisy pump & A/C drag are being caused simply by low
idle - BTW I can't find idle adjustment on throttle body - need a Bentley) No
check engine light or upshift indicator - so I cant read codes. Also ignition
switch sticks so I have to carefully turn it back to prevent overrunning the
starter.

Replaced the engine temp sensor ($40 from TPC) last week cause resistance was
way off & now engine runs pretty smooth when warm (slightly rough with A/C
engaged). Cold start is rough - I wonder is it cold start injector (does this
car have thermo time switch?). There is a switch that looks like a temp
sensor, mounted on a bracket, (into nothing) with 2 individual wire
connectors onto posts above the rear of the valve cover - what is it?.

Also replaced rear deck speakers ($90 from Shokan) & the stereo sounds
amazing! (any way to get a CD into the system?).

It's great to be back on the list. Of course I have been using the archives
as a reference all along. What a great resource.

If anyone can help answer some of my questions, I would greatly appreciate
it. Things are much more compact under the hood than in my 4Ks. Hope I can
make the adjustment.

Thanks for your help,

Jeff
