I would replace the splice NOW, the Denver winter together with the
voltage
drop will kill the battery pretty quick. (BTDT on wife's Avant).
Remember
the high resistance is a double whammy, with the big current draw on a
cold
start you will get more than a 0.5V drop (more like 1.5v!) with an
already
undercharged battery due to the splice.
