Driving home tonight, 2 miles from home, my new-to-me 1999 A6 puked a great
deal of its coolant out. Car's now in the driveway. I knew my '88 5KSQ
inside and out, but know nothing about this car. Can't see anything in the
dark and with the engine beauty covers in place. Do not have the Bentley.
Will look at it tomorrow in the light of day with access to tools. Don't
think I hurt anything because I only drove 2 miles after the warning. Oil
temp never went up. I know enough to only use the approved Audi coolant for
replacement. Questions:
1. Anything I need to know in getting the beauty covers off so I can see in
there?
2. I understand that there's a pan underneath the engine. Anything I need
to know in taking that off?
Is all this stuff going to be obvious to me when I raise the hood? I need
to diagnose it quick because the local dealer's Parts Dept. is only open to
noon tomorrow (Saturday).
