'99 A6 (2.8, 5V Engine) Woes

Lost all (at least most) of the coolant yesterday on the way home.  Dealer
(Clair) can't get to it until Monday.  Couldn't see anything last night, but
got a good look at it today.

Appears to be leaking from the uppermost hose that goes into the base of
where the oil filter goes.  Where the oil filter attaches, there is a
distinct squarish base that has 2 coolant hoses attached.  I assume this is
an oil cooler.  The uppermost hose from this base goes to a "Y" pipe that
runs along the frame at the front and bottom of the engine.  The hose is
only 2" long.  The leak appears to be coming from there.  Water in the
overflow tank comes out there as fast as I pour it in.  This location is at
the front of the engine, at the bottom, on the driver's (US) side.

Please tell me the water pump is not in that neighborhood.

Where is the water pump located?
