CGT Clutch Slave Removal - It doesn't want to be parted!

I'm replacing the Clutch Slave Cylinder on my CGT. I have removed the
roll pin (and its wire safety clip) but the problem is that the cylinder
doesn't want to slide out of the housing. I can't say I blame it, I'm sure
its been snug and undisturbed for nigh on 15 years.

So far I've just tried Plus Gas and a tapping with a drift, but access
is difficult to say the least and I can't get a very good purchase to whack
it. I'd like to get a bit of heat on it but am concerned about the steering
rack which sits just above.

Anyone got some tips they'd like to share?

    Cheers

rob
