I don't know how it is broken, but can you have the
broken
part(s)
tig welded back on?
If you're going to have to spend 400 bucks on the
tranny, plus
installation,
the repair cost may exceed the value of the car, it's
something to
watch out
for anyway. You might be able to upgrade to a better
car for the same
cost
as fixing yours....
I'll be investigating welding the part back on,
although I am concerned about long-term reliability
since I do not plac on selling this car - although I
would like to supplement it with another vehicle -
something newer (VAG of course).
I WISH I could buy a better car for $800 or $900, but
I don't think that's likely. BTW, the car was valued
at $4K earlier this year by my insurance co. after I
was rear-ended at a light. They were going to write
it off given the age of the car, but after looking at
it decided not to.
