Update: MC engine - low oil pressure

It might be worth looking into the top end, as there are a number of places
where oil pressure can be lost in the area of the camshaft.  Certainly
easier than replacing the pump, especially if that pump doesn't solve the
problem!  I've never seen a problem like this, and have never carefully
inspected an Audi head for this sort of thing, but a good look wouldn't be
out of line here.  The old 924s, and fairly recent BMWs have a problem in
the cam oiling bits, causing serious oil pressure problems.  I know we don't
have that spray bar, but there's still a lot of oil flung about in there,
and it has to come from somewhere.  If the clearances are too great, there
is good potential for a real problem.  HTH, John
