Well the written word has once again bit me in the
a$$. The rear calipers I rebuilt 65k? miles ago and
were working so beautifully no longer do. Friday
morning 4:30 a.m. leave for work. Drive about 5 miles
to the coffee/fuel hole and right rear rotor is cherry
red. Damn. I KNOW what this means. I had the
e-brake on all night. While I'm getting my Joe and
then refueling, I debate my options. Decide "screw it
and drive to work (118 miles). No problems. Neither
coming home or going to work and back again today
(Sat.), plus my old high schools state playoff game
last night. (We won! Yeah!) Anyway so over 500 miles
with no repeat of the problem and UNBELIEVABLY the
rotors not warped. It's a Zimmerman. I have only
used the e-brake twice for very short periods of time.
I'm convinced the problem lies in the internals of
that mechanism. Time to redo this. When/if I find
where I put the snap ring installation tool I'll try
to take a pic. with my friends digi cam. I guesss it
was time.
