Manifold ticking noise

Thanks everyone for your responses.  I think I am just going to leave
it alone.  It sounds like a lot of work for a annoying tick noise.  I
think I will investigate just a little further and make sure that the
exhause is my problem.

Having read numerous replies to your question about a ticking noise
from the
exhaust manifold of your 5-cyl Audi, let me add another possibility -
a
warped exhaust manifold. Very common. The manifold warps, the ticking
noise
is exhaust gas escaping past the exhaust gasket. As the manifold heats
up it
'straightens out' and the noise goes away. Had this in a couple of my
cars
in the past.
