I can't really add anything to what others have said. Since the oil cooler is so far from the
engine, the lines should stay cold until the oil thermostat opens - feel them and see if the
pressure drops at that point.
I can't see that the oil pressure relief valve would be involved - its temperature sensity is
limited to the oil's viscosity change.
I'm trying to think out what would happen if the oil pump driving ring 034 105 177 was omitted
from the crank when the oil pump was reassembled onto the car - but I think the pump wouldn't
run at all.
