broke a fuel line, what to do now?

same thing happened to me not three weeks ago on my 200q. The fix is
this:
1. Be patient
2. Cut the end of the pipe off with a dremel tool. You have to cut it
because you can and will be reflaring it. You must remove any sharp
edges and tears.
3. Straighten the pipe. You must move the fuel filter inboard a
couple of inches. Be very careful with this step, esp. when cold
outside. I used a deep socket over the collar nut and moved it to
where I want it. You have to make the pipe face forward.
4. Get a flaring tool. I used a single flare. After the job, I was
told the cones flare we have is a double. At the point, the fix is
solid, so I'll leave it alone. For the single flare, use oil to lube
the tip and be very patient here. 1st, make sure the collar nut is
way back. That's why you straightened the pipe; to get the collar nut
back on. As far as flaring, go very little baby steps at a time
because it's easy to tear the pipe. If it happens, you have to grind
or cut with the dremel again.
5. Once it's flared, screw is into the fitting. Go slow. A drop of
oil helps because you're forcing a trumpet shaped flare into a cone
receptacle. Anyway, I screwed it in not too much, until I saw the
dripping fuel stop. Then I went a little further and it started
leaking like crazy, then I went until seated and it stopped
completely. I removed the fitting once to see what it looked like and
the trumpet curls outward to fit the cone of the adapter.
If you can't do this, get rubber fuel injection line. A bunch of hose
clamps. Still, clean the end of the pipe with a dremel. Flare it just
a tad (single flare). Go to a junkyard and get the 14mm collar nut
and pipe to screw into the brass adapter on the filter. Use the
rubber hose to connect the two. Home depot also has a brass barb
fitting that will screw into the brass adapter on the fuel filters.
Good luck.

Subject: broke a fuel line, what to do now?
Hello all,
The victim is a 1990 100q. The line I'm taking about
is the hard metal feed line to the fuel filter. I
broke it right at the fitting. What I'm wondering is
how can I fix this. I do not think I can re-flare the
tube, that'll make the tube shorter and then I won't
be able to mount it or connect the other side.
I'm thinking I need to replace the line, but do I need
to replace the entire line? I see at the firewall
that the metal line goes into a hard plastic line.
Can I change just the short metal part, and if so how
would I connect the hard plastic to metal push fit?
Any help would be great to all the poor guys giving me
rides.
Thanks
Pasquale
