Audi 4000 fog lights?

I picked up a set last year on ebay, had to find the switch elsewhere as
it had "vanished."

They even came with two sets of mounting plates, I think they were for 4
or 5 cyl cars or something...  My set came with *instructions* for
cutting the lower grill, and a "cut per instructions" grill, which I
suspect always had to be done "locally."

I wonder if they are any good as real fog lights?
