I went according to Scott Mo's directions on his web site for
adjusting the external fuel pressure regulator's residual pressure.
Works. I would suggest some 200 owners with known good injectors and
check valves to try this adjustment. I turned the screw 2 turns and
might go for more. The reason why I went two is because my starting
problem is severe and began to happen all the time. I might go one
half to one more turn, but I'll see how this goes.
It helps to have a short handle 17mm wrench to break the inlet
fitting loose. Go easy, it might be rusty and the bolt may not allow
the pipe to free while you're loosening. All in all, took me about 45
minutes. It's easier if you remove the one 13mm mounting bolt for the
regulator. Don't forget to put it back on! BTDT!
Oh yeah, another note: more clearance is gained by removing the fuel
cut off (coasting) hose at the valve. Don't forget to put it back on
and push in the air boot end. While you're there, it's a good idea to
hose clamp at least the air boot side. I've noticed this leaks in all
of my turbos. A small amount, but a leak, nonetheless.
Thanks, Scott Mo!
