Need DriveShaft Help PLEASE

Hank;

These joints can be a real bear to get apart, whether on the main driveshaft
or the half-shafts. Soak the flange in your favourite penetrating fluid, let
it marinate for a while, and go at it again. Be careful with the chisel
idea - if you muck up the mating surfaces, it won't sit square when you put
it back together. If all else fails, try rattling the snot out of it with an
air hammer to loosen the joint from the flange. The joint is likely either
rusted to the flange or stuck to it with a sealing gasket. I tried to get
the rear joint off this shaft on my '94 S4 to lube the joint and gave up
after I managed to pull the front cover off it - I lubed it from the front
and put the cover back on.

Subject: Need DriveShaft Help PLEASE

I know this is a question for the S-car Listers but I know they moved and I
am not at home so I don't have the address. Hope one of you folks will know
and if not please someone forward this message to them.

Working on 1993 urS4. Transmission to rear diff shaft is almost out. The
CV joint directly behind the transmission will not separate. Have taken all
the bolts out, tapped with hammer (maybe even a little harder then
conventional wisdom would allow) and tried to tap into it with a chisel to
split the joint as well. Any help?? I am stuck here till I can get this
thing apart. Boy do I hate working in the dark, on gravel, outside in New
England during the fall.

Please respond ASAP with any helpful hints..
thanks so much
Hank
