Thanks George, but Audi dealer rebalanced and rotated all tires 1800 miles
ago. Thanks to Robert also. I'm just going to have to hound A of A until I
get the tires replaced. lemon law may have to be enacted as much as I hate
to do that!

Thanks,

Jeff

Make sure that the tires are properly balanced. Had a similiar problem with
tires on the wife's car a few years ago and it turned out that the tires
were not balanced properly. They were statically balanced but not
dynamically balanced which caused the wheel to bounce when rotating very
fast. I had the tires rebalanced for about $30 and it corrected most of the
noise. The tires were already cupped so there was still going to be noise
but at lease the cupping wouldn't get worse.

Also make sure you are there when they balance the tires so that they do a
good job of dynamically balancing. I was looking over the tech's shoulder
while he was doing the tires. What I observed was that he only did one spin
to determine where the weights needed to be put on and then after he
installed the weights he took the tire off to mount it. I stopped him and
asked him the recheck the balance with the new weights on and it turned out
that the wheels were still out of balance. In some cases it might take
multiple tries to get the balance correct.
