FORD MOTOR COMPANY
Taurus and Sable recalled to reposition pedals after eighteen accidents are reported

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced that Ford will recall some 400,000 Taurus and Mercury Sable models to modify the placement of the adjustable brake and accelerator pedals. The agency has received eighteen reports of accidents, including two injuries, because drivers mistakenly pressed the accelerator pedal when trying to brake. Most of the recalled cars were sold in the U.S. market and are 2000 and 2001 models with adjustable pedals. The pedals are standard on the Sable and an option for the Taurus.
