Hi Steve,

CARB's gotten a lot tougher on the pretest. Used to be "off the system"
but now the pre-test is fully logged by the state because there was a lot
of problems. Don't know about other test stations, but I had to pay twice
to get the urq pre-tested and for the final "official run. The guy I take
it to is strictly by the book-it would cost him his license and his
business if he doesn't. He showed me CA state newsletter showing a list of
technicians who had their license suspended for up to 3 years. I was a
little paranoid having "tweaked" the mixture when I ran on the ATP 4 wheel
dyno. In the end it still passed easily. Last time he nailed me for a bad
seal on the locking gas cap, now I have a simple twist-on cap which I put
on every car before the test.
