I found the clutch slave pretty easy to change on an '85 4kq (same job as on
a CGT essentially) a few years back. Car had ~140k miles at the time. I,
thankfully, have not yet had to do this job on my 5ktq, but it appears to be
about the same process. FWIW, you go through the wheel well/tie rod boot to
drive the pin out. The rest, I accomplished through the top under the hood.
I can't imagine having to R&R the trans to change the slave. Can/do they get
stuck in there that bad?
