I-5 oil pump

I have had trouble getting the screws out also...
Most of them came out by hitting the butt of the screwdriver and turning
carefully. Two were stripped so I drilled them out. Once the heads pop off
and the cover is removed, the shank turned out easily by hand. Hopefully
you won't have to do this. Heat may also help. There is no plastic in this
assembly, so you shouldn't have to worry about hurting anything.
I agree the screws are pretty soft. You are using a #3 phillips, right?
I replaced them with flat head hex socket cap screws, grade 8.8. That way I
can use an allen wrench instead of a phillips. Blue loctite also.
BTW... What are the differences between an MC an KH oil pump? I'm also
rebuilding a KH motor (using MC-1 81mm pistons). Sounds like you sourced
some custom JE pistons? Send me some details if you have them. Thanks.
