I hate deer

Hi George:

You left out a lot of important stuff in your original post;
1) Buck or Doe; if buck, how many points?
2) Was it night or day?
3) Do you have those deer repellent whistles installed? I always
wondered if those things do any good, so I need some anecdotal evidence
:-)
4) Were you carrying your skinning knife? No? Well no wonder you hit it!
And now all that meat, chamois leather, and rack (see #1 above) are
going to waste in the ditch!

While we're on the topic; a friend and I were pulling an all nighter
driving across northern Michigan about 2 in the morning. He was driving.
I woke up as I was being tossed around in my seat belt as he swerved and
braked to avoid a large congregation of deer. We made it through the
herd unscathed. I asked him why they were all out on the highway. He
told me that at that time of year, fall (October sometime), was the
rutting season. The dear congregated in clearings in the woods for these
social events. What better clearing could you find than the main highway
through the state forest?

Remember, carry your skinning knife ... you'll never hit another deer. I
never have and carry mine all the time.

Cheers
George
