Ghetto lowering 4k?

I dont know specifics of the non-quattros 4K, mine is a 4KQ. I have played a
bit with different ride heights and found there really is not all that much
suspension travel on the 4000. If you go overboard with lowering, the
suspension is basicly riding on the bump stops and handeling suffers
severly.
If you do go lower than stock, stiffer springs are needed to prevent
frequent bottoming out the suspension with the reduced ride height. Not sure
how they would work on a non-quattro, but the rear springs from a 4KQ are
shorter and are significantly stiffer than the front springs, using quattro
rear springs on the front struts results in significant lowering of the
front (couple of inches) and would work much better than cut stock front
springs at similar ride height.

Hi all.

I have a 85 4k non quattro. I want to lower it, and was wondering if I
could get away with cutting the springs. I realise that this isn't
reccomended on a general level, but would it be all that bad?

If not, then does anyone know where I can pick up some springs for it? What
about shocks?

 Thanks in advance!
