Indeed, John. Your points about old Audi wiring follows my experience
('75 Fox, 85 GT, 86 GT, 86 5ktq, '87 5kt, '93 90S)- and also your point abo=
ut Volvos.
Audinauts, by comparison, don't know how good they got it! I was touching u=
p an old 745GLE wagon for my then- girlfriend just before I bought the TQ. =
Had to tear out all the taillight wiring and start ovr, basically. Same for=
dash lamps, oil press sender, horn, and don't even get me started on the m=
elted fusebox. Volvo wiring crumbles. Period!
This was not an abused vehicle (badly anyway) and had not caught fire yet, =
either. Swedish Wire Syndrome is what the svc manager at the import shop I =
used to wrench at called it- and every 80s Volvo exhibited some, that I've =
seen.
I don't find the 44's propensity to eat its own PW wiring nearly as frustra=
ting...
