As was already mentioned, I think you need to start motivating to dig
into the dashboard and replace the fan itself.
When I got my 90Q there was only one fan speed, high. The new resistor
I put in 2 years ago is still holding up, though to get the "2" speed I
have to go past it to "3" and back... uh oh. My fan chirps
intermittently in the cold weather, and even has some odd grumbles and
groans developing. Guess I'd better do some of that motivating, too.
Back then, I mentioned to a tech at the local Audi dealer that I was
putting in a new resistor (I think I was asking him how the heck to get
the glovebox out), and he said that I should plan on replacing the fan,
too, but at the better part of $200 I have been procrastinating...
